There’s an excellent choice of hotels on Gran Canaria, from
small bed and breakfast establishments through to five star luxury – and
here we review some which might be suitable for holidays
in Gran Canaria
An alternative to hotels is to have villa holidays, and there are plenty of
companies who offer Gran Canaria
villa holidays - sometimes it can work out around the same cost as a traditional
hotel holiday.
Seaside Hotel Palm Beach, Maspalomas
With a beach that’s four miles long and often regarded as more upmarket
than nearby Playa del Ingles, Maspalomas is popular year round for both families
and couples and the hotels
in Gran Canaria here are often thought of as being a touch above some
other areas.
The Seaside is just that – close to the beach and two swimming pools
including a saltwater one, and a spa centre within the grounds.
For location as well as being close to the beach, the hotel is just a couple
of hundred yards away from a bus stop should you wish to get out and about rather
than having to hire a car. Different tour operators including Thomson
Holidays offer this as one of their Gran Canaria hotels.
And it’s no surprise really that Thomson offer The Seaside as so many
previous guests praise it, not just as one of the best hotels in Gran Canaria,
but in the Canaries. Certainly worth considering.
Neptuno Hotel, Playa Del Ingles
There’s a wide choice of accommodation in the resort, and the hotels
range from basic through to top level comfort.
Playa del Ingles is the most popular area for holidays on the island, but for
some it’s not what they want – reps trying to get you into their
bars and cafes for example.
But for others it’s the ideal holiday destination when they look at a
Gran Canaria map
as it’s lively and busy, with a good beach – and the hotels in Gran
Canaria are popular in this area.
Previous guests have mixed experiences of their stay, but the majority seem
to think it’s good, and the staff are helpful, efficient and friendly.
Cordial Mogan Valle Apartments, Puerto Mogan
If you don’t mind what location you have when choosing your hotels in
Gran Canaria as long as the Gran
Canaria weather is good, Puerto Mogan might not stand out as anywhere
special.
But if you’re looking for a quiet upmarket area on the island that can
retain its individual character, then the Cordial Apartments could be a good
one to include on your shortlist.
For location it’s good – close to the harbour, beach and a choice
of restaurants, walkable along the promenade.
Previous guests praise the good size rooms and terrace, also the staff and
clean state of both the rooms and common areas.
Revoli Playa, Puerto Rico
Looking at a Gran
Canaria map Puerto Rico is situated on the south-west side of the
island, and not far from Puerto Mogan.
It’s a resort that could be good if you have children in your party looking
to book one of the Gran Canaria hotels as the beach is well known (the sand
is brought in from the Sahara) and the bay is a gentle slope.
Previous guests have very mixed opinions on this hotel, ranging from awful
to brilliant, so perhaps taking a chance with this one.
Las Vegas Golf, Maspalomas
Gran Canaria
flights are happily a little les than the real Las Vegas, but if you
choose to stay here you might wish you had chosen Las Vegas in the US instead
of here.
Of all the hotels in Gran Canaria this one regularly gets the worst reviews,
and a lot of guests wish they had booked different accommodation.
With some great deals available it’s no longer necessarily true that
you get what you pay for – but here cheap really does mean you get what
you pay for.
